Settings

HotClays has a number of settings to tailor the app to your needs. All settings are located in the Account tab in the app. The following sections describe each setting in detail.

Advanced Sharing

When enabled, advanced sharing provides more fine-grained control over sharing by photo, PDF, or Excel (it has no effect on sharing by event code and link). When you enable this setting, then share an event by photo, PDF, or Excel, you will see a sharing options page. This page allows you to choose which people to include in the exported scorecard, include a sheet with event totals, and choose some other discipline-specific options. When advanced sharing is disabled, the exported scorecard always includes all scores and does not include a totals page. Advanced sharing is disabled by default.

Disable Auto-Lock

When the disable auto-lock setting is turned on, your device will never go to sleep while scoring. This is useful when, for example, you loan your device to someone else to keep score while you shoot. You don’t want the device to auto-lock, then require your passcode, face, or fingerprint to unlock again. When the disable auto-lock setting is turned off, your device’s auto-lock follows your system settings. The disable auto-lock setting is turned off by default (i.e. your device will auto-lock by default).

Metric Handicap Distance

When the metric handicap distance setting is enabled, trap distances are measured in meters. When the setting is disabled, trap distances are measured in yards. The default value is determined by your device’s locale (e.g. disabled by default for US locales, but enabled by default for most other locales).

Trap Station Totals

When the trap station totals setting is enabled, a pop-up is displayed between each station when scoring American Trap and American Trap Doubles. This makes it easy for the scorer to call out the station totals, as is typical in these disciplines. When this setting is disabled, no pop-up is displayed between stations. This setting is enabled by default.

Sporting Station Totals

When the sporting station totals setting is enabled, a pop-up is displayed after each shooter finishes a station when scoring sporting clays. This makes it easy for the scorer to call out the station total while the next shooter prepares. When this setting is disabled, no pop-up is displayed after the shooter finishes. This setting is disabled by default.

Sort People By

The ‘sort people by’ setting allows you to control how people are sorted in the People tab and the people list when selecting a group for a new round. The options are ‘Last, first,’ which means sort by last name then by first name, and ‘First, last,’ which means sort by first name then by last name. The default value is ‘Last, first.’

Trap, Skeet, Sporting Defaults

The trap default, skeet default, and sporting default settings determine which discipline is chosen by default when you create a new round. This setting is useful for people who mostly shoot one discipline. For example, suppose you mostly shoot Down-The-Line. Then you should set the trap default setting to Down-The-Line. This saves you the step of choosing the discipline every time you create a new round. By default, the trap default is American Trap, the skeet default is American Skeet, and the sporting clays default is English Sporting.
